Our culinary tour of Italy begins at the historical heart of Rome, where we explore the roots of Roman cuisine. Stroll through the vibrant Campo de Fiori market to handpick the freshest ingredients for our cooking class in Italy. Over four enriching days in Rome, you’ll uncover the fascinating connection between our modern diet and the influences of both Ancient Roman paganism and Vatican culture.

The trip will continue south to the gourmet haven of Pompeii, nestled in the fertile lands of Campania. Here, the volcanic soil imparts a unique flavour to the produce. We’ll follow the breathtaking Amalfi coast, a place of unparalleled beauty, art and tradition, where vibrant colours and fresh flavours merge seamlessly. We’ll set sail from Sorrento to Positano and Amalfi, where you can wander through the charming alleys and indulge in local cuisine. EARLY BIRD: BEFORE JANUARY 31st

HERE IS THE ITINERARY:

DAY 1

We meet at 15:30 for a sidecar Vespa tour of Rome with sunset stop on colle Gianicolo. Drop off at your accommodation and free time for dinner.

DAY 2

Meet at 8:45 in front of cafe’ Rosso Pomodoro and walk to Campo de’ Fiori market for fresh produce shopping for our cooking class. We then walk to the Tiberina island where we will take the class in a stunning location, the apartment where Marlon Brando used to live while in Rome. We will prepare and cook together our 5 course lunch while sipping on wine. In the afternoon we will go for a brief walk in the Jewish ghetto and guests will be free for the rest of the day.

DAY 3

On this day we will walk through the most iconic piazza and streets in Rome while tasting and discovering the local street food culture. After an afternoon break back at the hotel you can choose to have a free night or join us for an exclusive “secret Vatican” tour.

DAY 4

Hotel pick up at 9:00 and start with a tour of three underground levels of the Basilica of San Clemente, a medieval church with breathtaking mosaics and frescos from the 4th century. Then to a visit of Santo Stefano Rotondo and lunch at restaurant “Crab”. After lunch we will take a drive in the Roman hills for a visit of stunning Villa D’Este. We will have dinner and a wine degustation at the restaurant “Sibilla” in Tivoli.

DAY 5

Hotel pick up at 9:30 for transfer to Pompei where we will have a Pompeian style lunch with wine degustation. In the afternoon a visit to the Pompei excavation with an expert guide focusing on discovering the food of the gourmet capital of the Roman empire. Later in the afternoon transfer to your accommodation in Sorrento.

DAY 6

On this day we plan an early start at 7 for boarding on a private boat tour of the Neapolitan gulf and Amalfi coast with stops at Positano and Amalfi. Back to Sorrento for dinner at the historic restaurant “Caruso”.

DAY 7

Check out at 9 am and departure for Ravello to visit the stunning Villa Rufolo. Then for lunch at restaurant “Torre Normanna” and at 16:00 transfer back to Rome or Fiumicino airport.

Luca Rocconi

Luca was born in Abruzzo, the greenest region of Europe in central Italy (just 150 km from Rome). From an early age he expressed his passion for travelling, reading and communicating.

His deep love for languages and oriental mysteries led him to study Mandarin Chinese at La Sapienza University of Rome, then in 2005 he applied and won a scholarship at Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanks to which he perfected his Chinese proficiency at Tongji University of Shanghai.

In the following 6 years Luca worked as a tour leader in China, exploring this amazing country together with many groups of Italian tourists; when he was in Italy, he worked as interpreter.

In 2012 Luca moved back to Italy and started working with foreign tourists in Rome as tour leader; in 2015 he achieved the qualification of official tourist guide of Rome and the Vatican City State. Luca’s secret is his passion for his work and his desire to pass on his knowledge to tourists and friends, and help them understand more about the history, culture and traditions of Italy and Rome.

Luca is specialised in cultural, esoteric and art tour; he does tours in English, Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese, mostly for small groups, families and couples.

In 2018 Luca and his cousin Valerio met in Rome after many years apart, and decided to combine their experiences together to offer a unique product of its kind: a special itinerary to discover the roots of Italian history and culture, the authentic Italian food and traditions: a journey to experience the emotions that come from authenticity and beauty.
